{china cabinet}

30
A couple of months ago I found this little 50’s/60’s china cabinet on the local eBay classified. I just couldn’t pass up the 20€ (~ $28) deal!
{china cabinet}
The hubby and I were on the same page about the style and decided to take on the 80km (~50 miles) road trip to pick it up in the little coastal town Bremerhaven.
{china cabinet}
I liked everything about the cabinet — expect for the back. It’s made of flimsy imitation wood and I just did not like the looks of it at all. So, I searched for cute wrapping paper (for weeks), until I found this pretty pinkish-grey paper a couple weeks back.

I used double-sided tape to adhere it to the back and voilà! — itty bitty makeover that still made for a huge change and improvement! I’m in love with it!

Happy long weekend to you guys!! Here in Germany we’ll have to wait until Thursday for a holiday..
I hope you all had a good start into the weekend and have been creative this past week. I can’t wait to see what you’ll link up!!
Here are some of my favorites from last week’s {nifty thrifty sunday}:

Jamie of Life As A Pepin showed us how she did a anthropologie knock-off dishtowel. Amazingly cute!! Love all the detail!
This sweet idea was shared by Kristin from Homespun With Love. I love the idea of making the cupcakes look like popcorn!
Katie @ Little Things Bring Smiles shared this cute felt flower wreath. Doesn’t the orange just pop against the blue of the door?! LOVE!
Ashlie and Alfred from Edible Existence (formerly Delshad Duo) always come up with the BEST recipes. This looks so yummy and easy to make!!
$9.99 for the desk?! I’m still amazed! I love the makeover Desirée of The 36th Avenue gave this cute desk! Especially the turquoise inside of the drawers! Drool..
Katy @ sweet verbena shared a how-to for this wonderful shoe makeover. Go check her out — she also colored another pair of shoes for her s-i-l. Cuteness!!

{floral friday #16}
Happy Friday and welcome to another {floral friday}! This week’s featured flowers are peonies that are combined with some roses.
I love the look of peonies! They look so dense and tightly packed when they grow and open up to be such a beautiful and delicate flower with hundreds of petals.

A few facts about peonies:
  • Peonies can live to be 100 and still produce flowers.
  • The flowers can bloom for as long as two months.
  • Peonies are the state flower of Indiana.
  • The peony is the 12th wedding anniversary flower.

Let me apologize in advance for this image-heavy post. ;)
Like I mentioned in the last Floral Friday, the hubby and I went to Groningen in the Netherlands last week. We had a really good time exploring the city (I haven’t been for about 3 1/2 years). The weather was amazing — not too warm and not too cold. All in all just a beautiful day!
I’m in love with the little red brick houses..
..all the pretty details around town..
..and the canal going through the city (not in love with the muddy water so much..)!
It was the first time I’ve seen the bridge turn to let a couple boats through..
Well, I know most of you live overseas, but if you’re ever around here, you should go visit Groningen. Only after you’ve stopped by my hometown, Bremen, of course! ;)

Here are some of my favorites from last week’s {nifty thrifty sunday}:

I just can’t get over how extremely creative Alexis is! Check out her amazing Sharpie wall treatment for only 3 bucks @ Persia Lou!

Hmm.. Those strawberries and cream muffins look so delicious! Check out Greta’s cute blog over at {modern garden}!
Go visit Jessa @ Jessa Jill to find out how she made this cute doily stenciled table runner.
It doesn’t always have to be new! ;) Look at this great upcycle idea from Jacqueline over at Simple Home Life! She used chalk paint on her old beige fridge.
Another pretty chalk paint project. With a sentence out of my favorite children’s book! Debbie from The Craft Project shared this last week. Cute!
This fresh and summerly and soo yummy looking Greek barley salad was shared by Allison @ Alli ‘n’ Son! Hmm.. I gotta try this!
