Happy Friday!! I hope y’all are having a wonderful start into the weekend! This week I want to share with you the gentian flower (I hope I translated this correctly from the German word “Enzian”.. ;) ).
A few facts about gentians:
  • The name is a tribute to Gentius, an Illyrian king who was thought to have found out that the herbs had tonic properties. (source)
  • Gentians have trumpet-shaped flowers which are usually deep blue or azure, but may vary from white, creamy and yellow to red and purple.
  • During the Middle Ages, Gentian was commonly employed as an antidote to poison.
  • The roots are used medicinally to treat weak or underactive digestive systems and also as anti-flammatory medicine. (source)

My beautiful mom and I try to meet up at least once a week to spend some mother-daughter time and to get some of our creativity and craftiness flowing. ;)
Last week we found this awesome heart-shape waffle iron that makes waffle hearts on a stick! Of course we couldn’t pass it up and tried it the same day. The waffles turned out SO cute. What a fun idea for parties, like baby showers or just along with an afternoon caffè latte with friends.
You can find the yummiest (at least for my hubby’s and my liking — hehe) waffle recipe here. Btw, they taste pretty good without the stick, too! ;)

I love this pedestal cloche Kristi from The Speckled Dog linked up last week. Love the color and the ornate on the pedestal!

Look at this awesome dresser! You should really check out the before @ Salvage Savvy and you’ll know why I’m in awe of Connie and her beautiful work! ;)

Hmm.. Rhubarb Nut Bread. This looks so delicious!! I’m allergic to walnuts, but I’m sure I could substitute it with almonds. Thanks to Melissa from The Alchemist for linkings this up last week!

Yet another fabulous linkup from Desirée @ The 36th Avenue. Check out these cute stenciled benches!!

Alex and Wendy from Old Town Home shared a tutorial for making this pretty candle holder of old wine barrels.
