Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!
Even though I’ve already covered one beautiful type of daisy flower during my floral fridays, I decided to share this one as well. It’s an English Daisy and it was given to me by my mom yesterday as a little “thank you” for helping her paint in my brother’s old room (be prepared for a paint post soon! Hehe).

I love how tightly packed the petals are on this type of daisy. Well, and of course I love the color!

A few facts about the English Daisy:

  • English Daisy flowers are found around the world, but are native to North and Central Europe.
  • It is thought that the name “Daisy” is a corruption of “day’s eye”, because the whole flower head closes at night and opens in the morning. {source}
  • The English daisy is commonly known to botanists by its scientific name Bellis perennis.
  • The English Daisy comes in a great variety of colors. Anywhere from maroon to yellow and white, pink and even ruby.

When I was little, my absolute favorite book was Pettson & Findus: Pancakes for Findus! I knew it by heart and would often “read” it to my mom.

{source}

She still has it in her bookshelf (keeping it for her grand children *cough*) and last week it inspired us make our own “Findus” pancake tower. Yum!

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!
I found this beauty at the flower market about 2 weeks ago and I couldn’t walk past without getting a few stems. The buds reminded me of roses and the beautiful blooms of tulips. What a versatile flower! ;)

A few facts about the lisianthus:

  • The lisianthus is also often called Texas Bluebell, Prairie Gentian or Eustoma.
  • The botanical name Eustoma comes from the Greek eu, meaning “good,” and stoma, meaning “mouth,” referring to the beautiful petals and throat. {source}
  • Lisianthus are found in warm regions of the southern United States, Mexico, Caribbean and northern South America. {source}
  • The lisianthus has a long vase life. (I kept them for about two weeks)
  • Colors include white, light and dark pink, lavender and deep purple.
