{flea market find: type case}

105

A couple weeks ago I found this amazing type case at the flea market for a steal! 3€ (about $3.75) to be exact. I just couldn’t say no and already had a plan in mind.

I’m in love with those little metal plates that sit on the wooden intersections and the lettering on the bottom of the type case!

A few days prior to finding this treasure, I inherited all of my grandma’s sewing supplies. She doesn’t use them anymore and kindly passed them on to me.
So, I’m now the proud owner of thread in every color imaginable. Well, almost every color.. ;)

I was so lucky to inherit some wooden spools as well (like I used for my DIY washi tape) that go really well with the vintage feel of the type case.

I love my new spool organizer! ;)

{floral friday #59}

42

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

Even though probably considered a weed by most, I had to take some pictures of these pretty flowers. Cow parsley is in bloom EVERYWHERE right now. It’s such a hardy plant that it tolerates all car fumes to beautify the roadsides around town.

During our last craft get together, my mom and I picked some from the side of the road to take home with us and to take some pictures.

A few facts about cow parsley:

  • The cow parsley is a biennial plant, meaning that it takes two years to complete its lifecycle.
  • Cow parsley is a member of the carrot family.
  • Another common name is Queen Anne’s lace.
  • Many people consider this plant a nuisance weed in gardens because it spreads very quickly. However, it is often used by florists in flower arrangements, as the tiny delicate flowers look well beside other brightly colored flowers. {source}
  • As a herbal remedy it has been used to treat kidney and bladder stones, like others of the wild and cultivated parsleys. {source}

{puff pastry with strawberries & cream}

49

On Mother’s Day my mom & I went to the flea market and along with a couple other small things, I found this pretty 3-tiered cake stand. For 2€ (about $2.50)! Quite the deal if you ask me! ;)

Of course we had to put this cute cake stand right to “work” and filled it with some oh-so-delicious powdered sugar coated puff pastry crescents and fresh strawberries. We topped this with some freshly whipped cream and enjoyed the ensemble with a Café Latte. Yum!

We took Mother’s Day as an excuse to indulge in such an excess of sweetness. *cough* And strawberries are healthy, right!?
