Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

Even though we have season passes to the botanical garden, the hubby and I didn’t go all summer long. So, finally, on Tuesday we went back for an afternoon date and for a chance for me to take some pictures for my {floral fridays}.

Today’s flower is the Verbena (which actually grew in front of the botanical garden, hehe).

{floral friday #72}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

These little pretties are credited to my mom and her wonderful little garden. I love exploring all the different flowers growing in my mom’s backyard and these are one of my favorites right now. Pink Geranium — beautiful!

A few facts about Geraniums:

  • Geranium flowers come in a variety of colors. These include pink, red, white, lavender, salmon and multicolors.
  • Although geranium flowers tend to have an unpleasant odor, some varieties have scented foliage that is high in aromatic oils such as lemon, lime, rose, mint, pineapple, apple and nutmeg. {source}
  • Extracted from the plant’s stem and leaves, the oils are used as an astringent to improve skin and muscles, as a cytophylactic to promote healthy cell growth and as an antibacterial oil to prevent infection in cuts and wounds.
  • Other uses for geranium essential oil are as a deodorant, tonic, diuretic and a cicatrisant to fade away scars and other spots on the skin. {source}
