I have fond memories of growing up and sitting with my girlfriends, making friendship bracelets. We spent countless hours “working” on different patterns & colors and gifting them to each other.
I’m not sure what triggered those memories, but a couple weeks ago I was reminded of how fun it used to be to make these cute bracelets.
I raided my craft stash and found some leftover embroidery floss.
No $$ spent = the perfect nifty and thrifty project! ;)
- embroidery floss in 4 different colors
- a pair of scissors
- some tape or a safety pin
I remember me and my friends being superstitious and making a wish when putting on the bracelet.
We really believed the wish would only come true if the friendship bracelet fell off on its own. ;)
That would sometimes mean having to wear a bracelet for up to a year (if the maker was good at making the bracelets, hehe).
Where you and your friends superstitious like that?

I used to make these (and another pattern) all the time as a teen.

It’s been so long, I thought I’d start with the chevron pattern for now. But it was so much fun making these bracelets again, that I’m sure I’ll post again, hehe.

This just brought back crazy good memories;)) Love these little things! Sad but true — I made a friendship bracelet for my lil’ girl’s faux American Girl doll.….. and then made one for her cousin’s doll! Hey, it was quicker than sewing up a skirt or dress! Thanks for sharing — I keep a can of this embroidery floss behind my sewing machine. It makes for a pretty display with all the pretty colors! Best, Katie
That’s so cute! Thanks for sharing the story! ;)
And I can promise: it’s still fun to make the bracelets — even now, hehe.
I hope you’re having a great week!

love it and have forgotten how to make them!

I have deeply fond memories of making these, too… out of my mom’s stash of candle-wicking thread…
she never did finish that candle-wicked bedspread…heheh.e.

Your friendship bracelet looks awesome! My bracelets never looked that good– not one of my skills. Maybe I’ll have to give it another try with your tutorial. I would love to be able to teach my daughter how to make one when she gets older. Have a wonderful week :)

I never made these, as a teen I wasn’t as patient as I am now. I think I will try to make them so I can teach my girls when they are older, I was trying to make the paracord bracelets for them lol these are so much cuter and girly :)
Let me know how they turn out for you, Leti! :)
It’ll be a fun craft to do with the little ones, once they’re a little older.
Hugs to you!
I love to see craft ideas from other bloggers, always so inspiring!

Those are beautiful bracelets, Vanessa! I remember having those growing up, but none looked that pretty. I don’t know if my sausage fingers could pull that off! I’ll be waiting for mine in the mail, my friend ;) Lovely tutorial!
