{floral friday #82}

12

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

Things have been crazy busy around here and I don’t get to “work” on my blog as much as I would like to. So, getting help from my talented mother, contributing floral friday pictures, is a true blessing right now. :)

The flower I’m sharing with you today is a Wisteria.

A few facts about the Wisteria:

  • There are two types of Wisteria: Japanese Wisteria and the larger blooming Chinese Wisteria.
  • Some Wisteria don’t produce blooms for the first 15 years.
  • The English botanist Thomas Nuttall named the genus for Caspar Wistar (1761−1818), a professor of anatomy at the University of Pennsylvania, though the reason for the change in spelling of his last name remains unclear. {source}
  • Wisteria symbolizes many things, including: honor, memory, patience, endurance, longevity, exploration, creative expansion and victory over hardships. {source}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

I’ve been sick these past few days; struck down by a cold, but I’m feeling better every day and am actually heading back to work today. ;)
Luckily I’ve had my sweet husband to take care of me. He took care of all the chores, like cleaning, going grocery shopping and even brought me back some flowers for today’s {floral friday}. I love the look of this Protea!

A few facts about the Protea:

  • 300 million-year-old fossils indicate that Protea are one of the most ancient plants in the world.
  • The name “Protea” is derived from the mythological Greek Sea God, “Proteus,” who had the power to spontaneously change his shape.
  • Protea flowers are known for their long-lasting beauty. They last 10–14 days fresh, then dry to soft, muted tones that often last for several years. {source}
  • Protea flowers are self-pollinating. They have both the male and female reproductive organs on the same flower. {source}

{glassesUSA review & coupon code}

Recently I was asked by GlassesUSA.com to review one of their products. As I (luckily) don’t have to wear prescription glasses just yet, I asked my hubby to review a pair. In return I got to take a few pictures of him and post it on the internet. ;)

GlassesUSA.com is a website that sells a large selection of eyeglasses. They have a wide variety of frames for men and women; metal, plastic, rimless; different shapes and even ℞ sunglasses.

The website makes it pretty easy to find the perfect pair of glasses that suits you and the shape of your face. You can try on every pair in the store or select the style you like first and browse the categories to find what you like, using the “Try-It Mirror”.

We ordered the glasses on a Friday night and received them on Tuesday morning. That’s what I call quick for an international shipment!

The glasses arrived packaged securely in a box and even came with a case and cloth to wipe off dust and fingerprints.

If you’re in need to buy glasses and you’re looking for a cheap and quick alternative to your local eyeglass store, I recommend trying GlassesUSA.com.

Here are a few details from their website:

Besides our high quality frames and lenses, we offer:

  • 110% lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee
  • A generous refer-a-friend program (You can get $30 for each first purchase a referred friend makes — and use the $30 towards your next pair of glasses)
  • A Facebook page and Twitter feed with exclusive discounts for fans

Seeing properly shouldn’t be a luxury – it should be a necessity. We do our best to help our customers and we take their vision needs very seriously by providing our customers with top quality lenses in the most fashionable frames available!

If you buy your pair right now, you can take advantage of the Thanksgiving sale going on:
Thanksgiving Sale — Buy One Get One FREE!
Use code: THANKS2FOR1

GlassesUSA is also offering 10% off your entire order for all {nifty thrifty things} readers:
Use code: Blog10

Disclosure: GlassesUSA sent these glasses to me for review; however, no other compensation was received and all opinions in this post are my own.
