Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!
These beautiful carnations were a Birthday gift from my mom. I love the way she captured their beauty and am in love with the color! They’re so fragile, yet powerful looking..
A few facts about carnations:
- Carnations got their scientific name Dianthus from two Greek words — “dios”, referring to the god Zeus, and “anthos”, meaning flower. Carnations are thus known as the “The Flowers of God”.
- Carnation flowers have become symbolic of mother’s love and also of Mother’s Day. {source}
- Carnation is a perennial plant that comes in many colors including yellow, purple, mauve, maroon, red, peach, pink and white, each depicting different emotion.
- Red carnation is symbolic of deep love or admiration, depending on the depth of the red. Pink symbolizes mother’s love, purple color indicates capriciousness, white color means pure love, striped carnation means regret or refusal and yellow represents dejection.
- The carnation is the birth flower for those born in the month of January. {source}

I’m partying here! ❤

Carnations are one of my favorite flowers. My dad would grow them in our garden when I was a little girl,. I loved to go and smell them because they actually smell good to me.

Happy Birthday Vanessa! Beautiful flowers, like them! :) My favourites are lilys, but this comes after them! They’re strong and massive I think, and bloom for a long time even in a vase (or at least my experience is this)! Have a glad and great birthday again! :)

Thank you so much, Noemi! My Birthday was actually last month, but I just now got around to posting the flowers. :)
I hope you’re having a fun weekend! What are your plans?

Oh, then subsequently happy birthday, hope it was a beautiful day for you! :)
Nowadays I’ve got some cooking-fever! :D Check that on my new blog (http://tastesandhousewiving.blogspot.hu) if you’ve got some time and interestment! You were one of those who helped me to get a passion for cooking-baking-making delicious food! Of course the admiration of my mother was the first, but then came your lemon ginger syrup and other recipes that made me think that “Hey, I’m gonna try some new recipes and see how I can get through the cooking misery!”, and now I’m just loving it! So many thanks for your help (that you may didn’t even know about!)! :)
Love, Noemi :)
You’re so sweet, Noemi!! :)
I’m so happy and honored to hear that you’ve been inspired by me and my blog to try new recipes! So sweet!
I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!!
Love and hugs,
Vanessa
