Every time that happens, I swear I’ll be better about it next time around.
Which didn’t work this time either.. Oops!

So, for anybody out there that’s a last-minute gift maker/buyer like me, I’ve compiled a list of gift ideas that can still be made in time for Mother’s Day . For anybody else, it may be an inspiration for next year or an upcoming Birthday. ;)

On Mother’s Day my mom & I went to the flea market and along with a couple other small things, I found this pretty 3-tiered cake stand. For 2€ (about $2.50)! Quite the deal if you ask me! ;)

Of course we had to put this cute cake stand right to “work” and filled it with some oh-so-delicious powdered sugar coated puff pastry crescents and fresh strawberries. We topped this with some freshly whipped cream and enjoyed the ensemble with a Café Latte. Yum!

We took Mother’s Day as an excuse to indulge in such an excess of sweetness. *cough* And strawberries are healthy, right!?

How did it get to be Mother’s Day in less than a week?! Does time seem to go by faster this year? Or is it because I’m getting older (am I really turning 30 this year?! ;) )?

Well, anyways — I thought I’d share some freebie printables in honor of our fabulous moms! The cards print at 10″ x 7″ and fold to 5″ x 7″. {be sure to print at 100%}

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there! :)

{relaxation eye pillow}

As I mentioned in the previous post, my Bachelor’s Thesis was due yesterday. It. is. DONE! Yay!!
That also means that I have been pretty busy the last couple days and haven’t really gotten a chance to be creative. This is where my amazing, creative mom comes in! She’s basically guest posting for me today. Well, idea and picture-wise she is. :)

She made this wonderful eye pillow. Eye pillows are usually used for relaxation purposes in yoga. They are filled with spelt (you can also use flax seeds) and a few drops of lavender oil and are supposed to help headaches and work as an antidepressant. The pillows have the perfect weight to put enough pressure on your face to contour it, blocking out the light.

Materials you’ll need:
  • fabric (2 pieces about 8 x 3 inches, plus 1/4″ seam allowance).
  • sewing machine and thread
  • scissors
  • ribbon (optional)
  • spelt
  • lavender oil
How to:
  1. Sew both sides of the fabric right side together, leaving about a 1 1/2″ opening. If desired, sew in the ribbon on one of the short side of the fabric.
  2. Turn the fabric inside out.
  3. Drop a few drops of lavender oil on the spelt or flax seed and fill the pillow.
  4. Stitch the opening shut by hand.
  5. Relax!
