rosette waffles from {nifty thrifty things}

Aren’t those just the prettiest waffles?! They’re so delicate and beautiful looking.. And delicious! ;)

My mom and grandma discovered the rosette waffle iron hidden somewhere in the back corner of my grandma’s kitchen last year. She inherited it from her mom; my great-grandma.

They made these waffles for my hubby’s birthday (which was back in November), but I’m just now getting around to posting it. I hope you like them as much as I did. Yum!

{apple cake with streusel}

Sometimes I’m not sure if I really like Sundays.. Even though I do love sleeping in and/or being lazy on a rainy Sunday afternoon, it also means that it’s back to the grind the next day.. ;)

All the stores here in Germany are closed on Sundays, so if we get short-notice visitors on a Sunday (like we did a couple weekends back) and I want to bake a little something, I have to resort to what I have at home.

I make sure I keep the ingredients for this delicious cake at home at all times. It’s easy to make and SO yummy!

I know most of you probably can’t look at Christmas cookies any more without getting a belly ache after all the Christmas goodness.. I decided to still share one of the most delicious recipes I know: Vanillekipferl.

My mom makes these every year and I just couldn’t imagine a Christmas Season without them. She was generous enough to share her recipe and photos with us today. Thank you, Mama! :)

Today’s post is dedicated to my wonderful Oma. As I mentioned at the {nifty thrifty sunday} linky party, she turned 90 this past Saturday and luckily I was able to go to Berlin to celebrate with her. We had a wonderful weekend, filled with family time and festivities.

My grandma was the one who introduced me to homemade eggnog. It has been a Holiday family tradition for as long as I can remember, and finally last year I actually gave it a shot to make it myself for the first time. Delicious and super easy to make!

My aunt and I actually made some homemade eggnog for one of the gifts to my grandma. She loved it! ;)

If you’d like the see the recipe for homemade eggnog, check out this amazing Holiday Heirloom Recipe e-Book that Gwen from The Bold Abode created. It’s filled with family heirloom recipes from 16 amazing bloggers. The recipe e-book is FREE to download!
