Welcome to another {floral Friday}!! Can you believe it’s already July?! Half of the year 2011 is already over, wow!
What is your plan for the weekend?
I’m sharing these pretty hydrangeas with you today — another beautiful bloom from my mom’s backyard. ;)

A few facts about hydrangeas:
  • The name hydrangea comes from the Greek “hydor”, meaning water, and “angos”, meaning jar or vessel. This roughly translates to “water barrel”, referring to the hydrangea’s need for plenty of water and its cup-shaped flower. (source)
  • The hydrangea is the 4th wedding anniversary flower.
  • Hydrangeas are one of very few plants that accumulate aluminum. Aluminum is released from acidic soils, and forms complexes in the hydrangea flower giving them their blue color. (source)

Hydrangea’s are one of my favourite flowers. My mum used to have 3 large bushes under the kitchen window. They were just splendid.
Designer Marnie skillings designed her wedding around hydrangeas — the images were awesome! :)

Hydrangeas are one of my favourites. They remind me of my Nan. Unfortunately, I never acquired her knack for keeping them alive. Lovely shots

So beautiful. Blue hydrangeas are my absolute favorites. I never knew they were the fourth anniversary flower, which is a bummer because we’ve already passed it by.
