{floral friday #33}

Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?
It’s a 3 day weekend here in Germany. October 3rd is the Day of German Unity and we’re celebrating the anniversary of the reunification of East and West Germany.
The flower I’m sharing with you today is the Anthurium. A weird, but quite interesting looking flower. ;)

A few facts about the Anthurium:
  • The Anthurium is also known as flamingo flower, painted tongue or tail flower.
  • All parts of the Anthurium are poisonous if ingested and may cause mild stomach disorders.
  • The Anthurium comes in a variety of colors, including red, pink, white, lilac, brown and green.
  • The heart-shaped flower of the Anthurium is not really a flower at all, but a type of leaf called a spathe. The flower on the plant is the spike in the center. (source)
