Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!
What are your plans for the weekend?
Since I am a little late posting today’s post, it’s already Friday evening over here and the weekend has already started for us. The hubby is cooking our dinner, giving me some time to prepare this post. Great start into the weekend if you ask me. ;)
The flower I’m sharing with you today is the dill flower. I must admit that I have mostly seen dill in, well, a jar of dill pickles.. ;) It’s a pretty little flower though!

A few facts about dill:
  • Dill is native to the easter Mediterranean and western Asia.
  • The word dill comes from the old Norse word dylla, meaning to soothe or lull. It dates back in writing to about 3000 B.C., where it was mentioned in Egyptian medical texts. (source)
  • Considered by the Romans to be a sign of luck and by the ancient Greeks a sign of wealth, dill was also used by the ancients as protection against witchcraft and as a love potion ingredient. (source)
  • It is very easy to grow at home in the garden or indoors.

I’ve actually never seen a dill flower before. The green part of the plant before it flowers, yes, but actual flower, no. Your photographs are really lovely and lucky you getting dinner made for you! Happy weekend!
