{floral friday #51}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!
Even though I’ve already covered one beautiful type of daisy flower during my floral fridays, I decided to share this one as well. It’s an English Daisy and it was given to me by my mom yesterday as a little “thank you” for helping her paint in my brother’s old room (be prepared for a paint post soon! Hehe).

I love how tightly packed the petals are on this type of daisy. Well, and of course I love the color!

A few facts about the English Daisy:

  • English Daisy flowers are found around the world, but are native to North and Central Europe.
  • It is thought that the name “Daisy” is a corruption of “day’s eye”, because the whole flower head closes at night and opens in the morning. {source}
  • The English daisy is commonly known to botanists by its scientific name Bellis perennis.
  • The English Daisy comes in a great variety of colors. Anywhere from maroon to yellow and white, pink and even ruby.

I’m partying here! ♥

    I love English Daisies — especially the little ones, but have a hard time keeping them alive. I’ve tried to grow them a number of times, good thing they’re easy to grow from seed. Enjoy yours!

    I’ve never seen one either and it just could not be sweeter — a little pompom the color of pink bubble gum! So cheerful and pretty!

    Nice shots! I love English daisies. They’re naturalized here and grow wherever one finds an expanse of lawn. Their cheerful faces say springtime to me.
