{floral friday}

{floral friday #70}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

Things are a bit crazy around here at the moment & the hubby and I will be leaving for a short-notice trip to Texas in just 4 days. We’ll be gone for three full weeks, but I’m having an amazing group of guest bloggers set up to help me out while I’m gone. So, it’s definitely not gonna get boring around here!! ;)

Sundays will still be reserved for {nifty thrifty sunday} and I’m excited to see your creativity, while I take a step back from being creative myself.

So, as I’m getting everything ready for the big trip, my mom stepped in again by sharing another wonderful flower today. I especially love the name — Gypsophila Gypsy!

A few facts about Gypsophila:

  • Gypsophila is native to Europe, Asia and northern Africa.
  • Due to the type of soil it prefers, its Latin name means “lover of chalk”.
  • It is better known in the United States as Baby’s Breath. {source}
  • Gypsophila does well in borders, rock gardens, or planted among the roses.
  • It has an exceptionally long bloom time, lasting from early summer to early fall in most areas. It does best planted in groups, and will go from seed to flower in 8 to 12 weeks. {source}
  • Gypsophila is often associated with weddings because of their use in bridal bouquets. {source}

I’m partying here! ♥

      Thank you so much, Maureen! :) I can’t wait to be in Texas — but don’t really care for the long flight, hehe.

      I really can’t wait to be there, but could do without sitting in a tight airplane seat for 15 hours, hehe.
