{floral friday #76}

Welcome to this week's {floral friday}!

Today I'm sharing another flower whose pictures I took during our trip to the botanical garden: a beautiful hibiscus!

I hope you all will have a wonderful start into the weekend! Do you have anything fun planned? The weather over here actually got nicer these past couple of days and we are looking forward to the weekend and temperatures in the 70's . ;)

A few facts about hibiscus:

  •  The hibiscus flower is traditionally worn by Hawaiian women. A single flower is tucked behind the ear. Which ear is used indicates the wearer's availability for marriage. {source}
  • There are over 200 species of this plant of which 'Chinese Hibiscus' and 'Rose of Sharon' are commonly grown.
  • Herbal teas and other edible products produced of Hibiscus are consumed in many parts of the world especially the Caribbean.
  • The tea is caffeine free and can be consumed both hot and cold. It is considered to lower high blood pressures. {source}
  • While each bloom only lasts for one day, the hardy hibiscus is prolific, sometimes producing more than a hundred blooms in a season. {source}

I'm partying here! ♥

    Ooh, I love hibiscus! They are one of my absolute favorite flowers, and that peach color is gorgeous. I have a pink one growing in front of my house. :0)
