Thank you so much Vanessa, for inviting me to write a guest post for your amazing blog!
Today I will show you my favorite post!
And now a little about myself;) My name is Lydia Pudel,
the owner of Pudel-design blog, and several shops where I sell my art.
I am a graphic designer and artist who lives and works in a pretty small town in Germany.
I love everything about art and DIY projects.
Today I will show you my painted rug. ;)
As you can see it in this post
here, I bought a rug at IKEA
and found this nice inspiration foto,
then searched for a pattern and found this here…
made a stencil and traced them on the carpet.
Then the crazy part starts;)
It took me two days to finish this project…
That’s how the carpet looks like after one coat of gray paint (just a little wet), which looks
more blue than gray on the fotos but it is a warm gray tone.
After everything dried I started to paint the spaces in a creamy white.
And that‘s how it looks right now after sanding it a little bit.
I think I should give em a coat of clear paint and than sand it again.
But for now I‘m pretty happy how it turned out;)
And here it is in my bedroom in the reading nook;)
What do you think?
Do you like my new carpet as much as I do?;)
Here are the most asked questions about this project!
And the answers;)
1. Which size has this rug?
It is 165x230cm or 5,5x7,7inches.
2. Which size has the stencil?
3. What paint did you use?
Every one who painted a rug uses latex paint.
I took regular indoor wall paint, nothing special,
It worked really well for me.
It is a soft grey and a milky white color.
After i applied the last coat, the rug seemed a little stiff, crinkly and rough,
so I put out my little electric sander and gave em a try.
Now the rug is more soften than it was before.
The structure of the rug is now like it was before it was painted.
5. Didn‘t the paint get through the rug onto the floor?
Nope, because the rug is sealed at the backside.
6. How does it support traffic, doesn‘t it fade out
where people stand or walk?
Can‘t report on that, this rug is supposed for my bedroom,
It is not so many traffic around there;)
7.How do you clean them? Remove Stains?
Simply vacuuming the rug.
There are no STAINS on my rug!!!;)
