Love this idea!I’d like to make them, maybe if I won’t be so busy today. :) Maybe some vanilla sugar can replace those vanilla beans? For just the taste you know, because there are no vanilla beans at home today… :D I used to play those computer MahJongg games that gives you one wisdom after each level you’ve finished. I think those good old wisdoms can be good if you don’t have funny ideas to put in your cookies. :) But now I have to check if I have all of the ingredients at home (I’m sure about the vanilla bean…there’s not any in my pocket unfortunately.…will the vanilla sugar spoil the whole thing? hope not.…).
Thank you again Vanessa, you always give me a great task to do! ;)
    Love, Noemi

Umm, okay, I’ve made it yesterday and it was a hit! The vanilla sugar made the trick, maybe I should use more to get more vanilla flavor for the cookies (I used only one teaspoon), but it was great! :) Thank you again for the recipe!

Happy and peaceful new year to you and your family Vanessa! :)

      Love, Noemi

Hey! I’m so happy to hear the fortune cookies were a great hit! :)
And yes, I think using vanilla sugar is perfectly fine. Cheaper too, hehe.
I hope you’ve had a great start into the new year!
        Hugs, Vanessa

Awesome! I made fortune cookies with my mom when I was in grade school — forever ago! They were a little tricky to make but a lot of fun. These would also be awesome as Valentine’s Day gifts filled with love notes instead of messages!

I’ve always wondered about making fortune cookies. I love most any cookie, but fortune cookies, to me, are similar to butter cookies or shortbread cookies. Their flavor is so simple, yet delicious. It must have taken you forever to get them baked since you had to do just two at a time! They look lovely, especially styled with your homemade baker’s twine!

It actually doesn’t take too long to make, as they bake really quickly. :) And it’s a lot of fun!
      Thanks for your sweet comment!

I’m actually having trouble with the cookies.. About how many minutes are they supposed to cook. Mine are rubbery and will not stick. I’m trying to do this for my wife for valentines day..

Hey Matt! I’m so sorry to hear the cookies are giving you a hard time to make.. I can’t say for sure how many minutes the cookies need to stay in the oven. They’re ready when they start to brown on the edges. If they’re still too rubbery, maybe try leaving them in a just a little longer.
      I hope this helps!
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your wife!
      Greetings from Germany,
      Vanessa
