Happy Friday!! ;)
Do you have anything fun planned for this weekend? The hubby and I are going to enjoy the 3-day weekend (Monday is a holiday in Germany) with hopefully some beautiful weather..
The flower I photographed for this week’s {floral friday} is the snapdragon. Such a beautiful and soft looking flower!

A few facts about snapdragons:
  • The botanical name is Antirrhinum, which is Greek and stands for nose-like.
  • Snapdragons are available in just about every color, except blue.
  • The cut flowers stay fresh in a vase for a week to 10 days.
  • According to ancient accounts, it was believed that snapdragons had otherworldly powers that could offer protection from witchcraft. It was also thought that snapdragons could restore youth and beauty to women. (source)

So pretty! I planted snapdragons this year for the first time in FOREVER. I’m excited for them to finally get to growin’ and bloomin’. We always used the individual flowers to “chomp” each other when we were kids.

The snapdragon is such a lovely flower. Unfortunately here in the Houston, TX area it is to hot for them. Here they are a fall to early spring flower. Have a great long weekend!
