Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!
What’s ahead for you this weekend? Any fun plans? :)
The hubby and I are going to dog sit on Saturday and are invited out for a birthday on Sunday. I hope the weather will stay nice enough this weekend to go for long walks with the dog and to be able to spend the birthday outside in the backyard. ;)
The flower I’m sharing with you today is the dahlia. Beautiful, isn’t she?

A few facts about dahlias:
- The dahlia is named after Swedish 18th-century botanist Anders Dahl. (source)
- There are more than 30 species and over 20,000 cultivars of dahlias.
- Dahlias start blooming in mid-to-late July (depending on the location and the cultivar) and bloom continuously until frost kills the plant. (source)
I’m partying here! ♥

Friday August 5th, 2011 at 08:52 AMGorgeous dahlias! The hues are really beautiful in the photos you showed. I had to post that last photo on Pintrest!
I’m going to have a quiet weekend — it’s far too long since I’ve had one of those. With maybe some sewing and cooking and blogging involved too.
I also need to go to a pet shop for basics such as bowls etc because we are getting a puppy in two weeks!! Yikes!
Have a great weekend!
