{floral friday #30}
Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}! Can you believe it’s already the 30th floral friday? Time sure flies by when you’re blogging! I can’t believe my little blog is only 16 GFC followers away from 1,000!! I have something fun planned for ya’ll once we hit that number! So, be sure to check back! ;)
What do you have planned for the weekend? The weather over here is supposed to get back up to the high 70’s after about a week of rain and fall-like weather, so I hope the hubby and I get to spend some time in the sun..
The flower I’m sharing with you today is the Gloriosa or flame lily. A beauty, isn’t she?

A few facts about the Gloriosa lily:
  • The Gloriosa lily is native to the tropical regions of Africa and Asia.
  • Blooming in mid-summer, these strange and exotic looking lily-like flowers are 4–5 inches across with wavy-edged petals that are reflexed back as if blown by a strong wind. (source)
  • Be careful: Parts of the Gloriosa contain Colchicine (a toxic natural alkaloid) and are dangerous to people and animals if ingested. One-tenth of an ounce of the toxin from the root can be fatal to an adult. (source)
