{floral friday}

{floral friday #53}

Last week I bought these cute little buckets, not knowing what to fill them with. That changed when the hubby and I visited the flea market on Sunday and stumbled upon a flower stand with beeeaautiful tulips.

Filling the buckets with the flowers made for the perfect Easter gift, but not before taking pictures of these little pretties (I wanted to keep at least these, hehe)! And of course I can't keep these tulip pics to myself and, even though I've already shared tulips during my {floral friday} posts (the very first!), I had to share! ;)

A few more facts about tulips:

  • Tulip bulbs can be "forced" into blooming by storing them in a cold place for 12-16 weeks - even the refrigerator. {source}
  • The word "tulip" is descended from a Persian word "dulband" -- which led to a Turkish word "tülbent" (turban, like the hat) -- which led to the Latin "tulipa". {source}

I'm partying here! ♥

    I love tulips! Besides being beautiful, they also make me think of my heritage. My mother is dutch and grew up in a little Iowa town with an annual tulip festival. :0)

      Ohh, that must have been beautiful at the tulip festival! Does your mom still know how to speak Dutch? :)

      Ooh, I’m way too impatient to plant anything that isn’t already in bloom! Haha

    Oh how I love tulips! The color of yours is beautiful, and the pots are super cute. I wish I lived in an area where I could purchase fresh flowers from somewhere other than a chain grocery or a florist.

      Hollie, Thank you so much for your sweet comment! :)
      Oh, I know what you mean! I hated that about living in Houston.. It’s nice to have flower markets around now.
      I hope you’re having a fun weekend!
