{floral friday #54}

April 20, 2012

This week’s {floral friday} is brought to you by my wonderful mom. She’s an amazing photographer and enjoys taking pictures of pretty flowers as well.
Lucky me! I get to share them! ;)

Don’t those anemones have the most beautiful color? I need to find some myself to decorate with..

A few more facts about anemone flowers:

  • The name anemone comes from the Greek word “anemos”, which means wind and is sometimes called “windflower”.
  • Thought to bring luck and protect against evil, legend has it that when the anemone closes its petals, it’s a signal that rain is approaching. {source}
  • In medicine, anemone is used as a treatment for cramps, menstrual problems and emotional distress. {source}
  • Anemones have a vase life of 5–8 days.

I’m partying here! ♥

    I really like the anemones, but they do not want my garden to grow. Photos of the beautiful are just beautiful. Yours.

Love being on the floral Friday journey with you! Thanks for sharing you creative inspiration at Sunday’s Best Par.tay!

  22. I love how you always include botanical information and mythical lore about your Friday flowers. I’m always learning new information in addition to learning the names of the gorgeous blossoms you select each week. On this one, I love that little ruffle of green leaves beneath its neck, sort of like a pretty collar :) You and your mom are truly gifted photographers — wonderful post! xo, diane
