{floral friday #55}

Happy {floral friday}! I hope ya'll will have  a wonderful start into the weekend and have lots of fun plans for your days off!

Today's flower is the pansy. I found these little beauties at the flower market last week and just had to get them to make our balcony look a little more like spring. ;)

A few more facts about pansies:

  • The name pansy is from the French word pensie, meaning thought or remembrance. {source}
  • The leaves of the pansy are edible, have a minty flavor and are high in vitamin A and C.
  • These flowers are used to make syrup; to flavor honey; to garnish green salads, punch bowls and sugar bowls; and as candied caked decorations and dye.
  • The delicate, sweet fragrance of the pansy flower is most evident in the early morning and at dusk, with the yellow or blue pansy flowers emitting the strongest scent. {source}

I'm partying here! ♥

    And, they are so resilient! Even after a hard frost, they perk up by noon and are as good as new!

    I agree with all the other comments – their sweet little faces and how they can survive beneath snow. For some reason pansies always make me think of my late grandmother. They seem so comforting. Your little flowerpots do look like springtime just walked onto your porch :) sending hugs, diane
