{floral friday #6}
Finally another Floral Friday! ;)
I missed having a Floral Friday last week and the colors it brings for the weekend, but I was just too sick to climb the stairs to our 4th story apartment down and especially up again..
For this week’s Floral Friday I picked a pretty Spring flower — the daffodil. I just love the trumpet shaped head of this beautiful flower!

A few facts about daffodils:
  • the flowers symbolize friendship
  • daffodil is the English word for the botanical name narcissus
  • in the medieval ages the juice of the wild daffodil was used as a cure for baldness
  • daffodils are the traditional flower for a 10th wedding anniversary

  1. in dutch they are called ‘narcis’ of ’ paasbloem’ .
Paasbloem means : flower of easter

  2. {nifty thrifty things} says:

Yeah, in German it’s “Narzissen” or “Osterglocken” (easter bells) :) I love how similar the name is!
In the States I’ve only heard them by the name daffodil. But maybe they have an easter-related name, too. ;)

I love daffodils… those are beautiful! We won’t have flowers here in Nebraska for at least another month (probably longer).

Also, did you create the storyboard yourself or download the storyboard layout from somewhere else? If it’s downloaded I’d love to know where you got it. I use storyboards a lot, and love this one!

  6. You chose my favorite flower. The daffodil is so simple in its beauty. My husband knows of my love for daffodils and ordered some one December so that the florist would be sure to have them for my Valentine’s Day bouquet. I love reading your blog.

They’re beautiful! Can’t believe yours are up and out already! Mine are up about 3 inches. I never dare cut mine. Do they last long after cut?

  22. {nifty thrifty things} says:

Thank you all for your wonderful comments!! :)

@ Jeanene: I bought them already cut and unfortunately they only lasted about 4 days.. They were pretty while they did last, though. ;)
But, next time I’ll definitely get planted ones..
