{floral friday #60}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}! Can you believe it’s already June and we’re at floral friday #60?!

As already mentioned back in February, the hubby and I went to the botanical garden here in Bremen. We decided to trade our one-day passes into seasonal tickets and can now go as many times as we please. Yay!!

So, the flower I’m sharing today was, of course, taken at the botanical garden! ;) The fringed iris has such pretty and delicate-looking little blooms. I wish I could grow them in our apartment..

A few facts about the fringed iris:

  • The fringed iris is a beautiful iris found in wet grassland, or at the edges of open forests.
  • The scientific name for the fringed iris is iris japonica.
  • In Chinese herbal medicine, the rhizome is used to treat injuries, and a decoction of the plant is used against bronchitis, rheumatism and internal injuries. {source}
  • The fringed iris typically is in bloom from May through July.

I’m partying here! ♥

    This is one of the most beautiful flowers I think I’ve ever seen. How lucky you are to have a botanical garden to visit whenever you want. Photographing flowers is so satisfying, isn’t it? And you’re really GOOD at it! Thanks for sharing such beauty.
