{floral friday}

{floral friday #61}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

This beautiful and delicate looking flower is “sponsored” by my wonderful mom. I’m so happy that I can borrow pictures from her every now and then to post on my blog and share with you. She really has an eye for unusual flowers. This blue beauty is called Agapanthus or “Lily of the Nile”.

A few facts about the Agapanthus:

  • Agapanthus plants are native to South Africa.
  • Other common name for Agapanthus is “Blue African Lily” and “African Lily”.
  • The name of this flower is derived from the Greek word Agape which means love and athhos, which is Greek for flower. {source}

I’m partying here! ♥

    I love that shade of purple! So soft and delicate. I wish I had another room in my house available so I can paint the walls a shade of that flower — ooo how soothing it would be!

      Thanks a bunch, Andrée!
      Our weekend has been great so far. We watched the Germany — Portugal soccer game last night. It was kinda boring, but at least Germany scored a goal. :)
      Are you following the European cup?
      I hope your weekend is a great one!
      Hugs! Vanessa

    We also have Agapanthus all over the place here in Australia :)
    It’s one of my favorites. So glad you like it too.
    They also come in white and, when the plant is older, they bloom in beautiful big, white balls — fantastic!
    One more thing — once they’re established in your garden, they are very strong and almost nothing can destroy them.
    A great plant to have!

      Thanks for the additional facts, Donata!
      I hope you’re having a wonderful week!
