{floral friday #62}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

I love Azaleas. Especially when they’re still in bud. Today’s pictures were also taken at the botanical garden. I need to go back soon for another photo shoot. I can’t wait to see what’s in bloom right now. ;)

A few facts about Azaleas:

  • Azaleas are members of the genus Rhododendron.
  • Azaleas require a minimum of 3 hours of sun in order to produce numerous flower buds.
  • Buds for the next year’s flowering begin to form within a few months after blooming. {source}
  • In China, the azalea flower is thought to be a strong symbol of womanhood. In other parts of the world they are thought to represent passion and fragility. {source}

I’m partying here! ♥

    Lovely post! Thanks for the info :) Chris’ Mum gave us an azalia last year and it’s flowered but doesn’t look particualrly healthy. I wonder if it needs to be moved to another spot in the garden ;) Maggie xx

      Thank you for the sweet comment, Maggie! :)
      Unfortunately I don’t have much experience with backyard gardening (we only have a small balcony), so I probably won’t be of much help.. The only things I can think of is frost or watering. But it might help to move the plant to another spot as well. Some plants are picky. ;)
      xoxo! Vanessa
