{floral friday #67}

Welcome to this week's {floral friday}!

These little pretties where a gift from my mom when she came over to visit along with my grandma this past Saturday. I love Gladioli in every shape and color - especially these miniature Gladioli! Danke, Mama! :)

A few facts about the Gladioli:

  • The genus Gladiolus comprises 260 species, 250 of which are native to sub-Saharan Africa, mostly South Africa.
  • The Gladiolus flower signifies remembrance. It also expresses infatuation, telling the receiver that he or she pierces the heart. It also stands for strength of character, faithfulness and honor. {source}
  • Gladioli are grown from bulb-like structures called corms that are planted in the ground in early spring and bloom throughout most of July and August.
  • Some parts of gladiolus plant are poisonous if ingested. {source}

I'm partying here! ♥

    Thanks for the lesson today. I really am short on flower knowledge. It’s so fun to not only see how pretty the flowers are, but to hear some history about them. Fun!

    These are so pretty! The gladiolas I usually see are pretty, but they’re all one color… Thanks for sharing at The Fun In Functional!
