apple blooms from {nifty thrifty things}

Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

Thanks to my wonderful my mom, I have another fun plant to share with you today — the crabapple! She bought a branch just before Christmas and not only was it baring tiny little apples, it also started to bloom after a few days in her cozy house. Beautiful!

A few facts about the crabapple:

  • Crabapples are versatile, small, ornamental trees used in the urban landscape.
  • Trees only produce fruit after they have had flowers. The ornamental fruit of a crabapple puts on a show during the fall and winter. Fruits vary from less than ¼” to 2” in diameter. {source}
  • Both apple trees and crabapples have clustered, five-petaled blossoms with 15 to 20 yellow stamens in the center. {source}

I’m partying here! ❤

  1. How very pretty. I would never have thought to put a branch in a vase, nor expected a crab apple to flower inside. Such beautiful photos.

    • Thank you so much for your sweet words, Wanda Ann! :)
      The weather over here actually has been more like fall for the last few weeks. Not the nice crisp air fall, though. Rainy and gray.. :(
      So, I’m ready for spring as well, hehe.
