Welcome to this week’s {floral friday}!

It’s been a while since the last {floral friday}, so I’m really excited to show such a beauty today. The pictures were taken by my talented mom, who is generously helping out with floral pictures while life is crazy busy for me. Thank you, mom! ;)

A few facts about the Calla lily:

  • Though called a lily, Calla lilies are not really lilies.
  • The word Calla comes from the Greek term for beautiful.
  • Callas are light sensitive, they search for the light source. {source}
  • The Calla lily roots are poisonous.
  • Cut Calla lilies last for about 4–8 days when cared for properly.
  • They’re natives of South Africa, where they grow so abundantly that they’re viewed as common roadside plants and are called “pig lilies.” {source}

I’m partying here! ❤

    I love Calla Lilies, my Uncle and Aunt have all over in their yard in Seattle area. I love the one with the words in the background, beautiful.
    Have a lovely weekend.

    It is such a beautiful flower. Makes me wonder if it would grow well here in Utah, I don’t recall seeing anyone having this beautiful flower in their yards. I am going to do some checking around, as we are putting gardens in right now.
