Hi everyone. I’m Carolyn from Homework and I’m delighted to be here at Nifty Thrifty Things while Vanessa is away. Today I want to share with you one of my favorite projects – my carved branch photo holder.

This project came about when we trimmed several trees and bushes in our yard. I saved piles of branches and used them for various projects.

I wanted this photo holder to resemble an old-fashioned tree trunk that had been carved by lovebirds.I carved the heart with an Xacto knife. Working slowing, I carved the outline and then chipped away the bark and cleaned up the edges. Miraculously, I didn’t cut myself while doing this.

Once the heart was complete, I sawed a groove into the top of the branch and glued a round paper clip into the groove.

If you wanted to personalize this project even further, you could carve initials into the heart. Just be very careful with that knife!
I hope you enjoyed my project. Please come visit me at homework anytime.
