Hi Nifty Thrifty Friends!

My name is Desirée and I blog over at .

The 36th AVENUE

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be here visiting with my dear friend Vanessa.

From my very first days of blogging Vanessa has been an inspiration to me and I’m simply honor to be a part of her fantastic blog today.

I am sharing with you a Nifty Thrifty Tutorial of how to turn any ordinary can

into some EXTRAORDINARY Pencil Holder.

I think they are so cute…

They look like something my sweet grandmother would have loved.

{ I was actually thinking about her while making them.}

Eat your soup… your beans… your corn…

JUST EAT… but keep the cans!

After your stomach is full and happy pull your spray paint OUT!

The first thing you are going to do is spray the inside of the cans so they look clean and pretty.

Make sure you paint the top border of the can since you won’t be able to do it later if you are using two colors as I did.

Let it dry 10 minutes or so and then turn them upside down.

Spray the outside of the can in the color of your choice. I did mine in white.

…Let it dry again.

While waiting to dry cut some scrapbooking paper of your choice.

I was going for a true vintage look… so simple graham was perfect.

You can STOP here and be done… but I wanted something a little more feminine.

Few things are more feminine than lace but since I didn’t have any I used some paper doilies that I had at hand.

Just cut out the amount you want to add.

Then use some white glue to stick the doily to the can…

Now EASY with the glue the doilies are delicate and they will break if you go GLUE CRAZY!

And just like that you are done!

At this point all you have left is to decide what are you going to use them for…

I used them as part of my Jewelry stantion .

You can see how to build your own peg board

And later on they became part of my .

You can take a tour … I am warning you, there is a lot to see.

Vanessa, thank you so much again for having me today and letting me hang out with your readers.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
