{kimono baby shoes}

{kimono baby shoes}
Last week I met up with my oldest friend that I’ve known for 23 years. She moved to Berlin a few years ago and we only get to see each other a couple times a year. Well, just 11 weeks ago she had her first baby boy and I met him for the first time last week. What a cute baby! ;)
I wanted to give her and her little baby a handmade gift and decided on this tutorial from Homespun Threads for the baby shoes. I also made her a relaxation eye pillow, that I showed you a few weeks back.
{kimono baby shoes}
She loved both of the handmade gifts and the shoes fit perfectly. The only thing that I might do differently next time is, adding some elastic to keep the sides together better and keep the shoes from falling off too easily.
Other than that, they turned out really cute and are very easy to make! You should give it a try! ;)

I’m partying here

    @ alkaline water: You should really give it a try! They are pretty easy to sew and you won’t even see minor imperfections. The only thing that was a little tricky for me (and I had to start over on the second shoe) was getting the fold over facing in two different directions.. Hehe

    I absolutely love these and am going to make them for my daughter right now! I wanted to ask where exactly you think the elastic would need to be added as I’m sure my little girl would get them off really quickly so any extra support would be great.

      Thank you for the sweet comment, Jenny!
      I would add the elastic across the opening, so it keeps the sides together better, but leaves enough to get her little feet in and out. I hope that makes sense. It’s a little hard to explain without showing it on the shoe itself. ;)
      I hope you’ll have a fabulous weekend!

      Hey Kathy,
      I would put the elastic across the opening, on the inside. That way the foot would be more secure in the little shoe.
      I hope this helps.
