{nifty thrifty sunday #226}

♥♥♥ Happy Easter everyone!! ♥♥♥

I hope you all are spending a wonderful Easter Day with your loved ones! What is your Easter tradition?

When I was a child, we would always visit with my grandparents, aunts & uncles and cousins at my grandparents vacation house (which unfortunately burned down before I ever got to make the drive myself). The vacation home was an old train worker house in the middle of the woods, and you guessed it: right be the train tracks. When trains would come by, there was nothing else to be heard. That, in addition to this house being the only one for miles around, made it kinda creepy staying out there. But it was always really adventurous and I loved it there!
There was no electricity. except on Sunday, when my grandpa ran the generator. That meant everything had to be done during that hour. My grandma would whip some cream with the electrical beaters, my mom would usually run the vacuum cleaner. Everybody had their chores. Well, and my grandpa used that time to watch some TV. Haha
There also wasn't any running drinking water, so we would fill up buckets at the pump from the well. That water was by FAR the most delicious water I've ever had! ;)
I sure miss all those times I got to spend there as a child and am sad to know that our little daughter won't get to make those memories.. But, I'm sure we will start our own traditions with her and she'll have wonderful memories to look back onto when she grows up.

Well, with all that said, we're celebrating Easter on Easter Monday this year - since my brother's girlfriend has to work today - with a delicious brunch at my mom's house.
