This past weekend we finally put up some curtains in our bedroom/office. A couple weeks ago my brother and I went to IKEA and I fell in love with their flowery fabric. I didn't get around to sewing it to the right length until this past weekend though.. Please don't hate ;) - we had a sheet up on the window since we moved in almost 6 months ago.. We just needed something to block the sun out and the dark sheet came in handy. My sweet husband acting surprised by me taking a picture. I'm so glad he's always supportive of my ideas and always has a helping hand. The curtains are finally … {click here to continue reading}

{floral friday #4}

Has it already been a week since the last floral friday?! This week's featured flower is the crocus. I bought this little beauty in the above animation about 2 weeks ago and documented it's growth for about a week. You could literally watch it grow! Unfortunately we don't have a back yard, so anything we grow needs to be grown in our apartment.. I don't really have a green thumb, but I do my best to keep our plants alive. ;) photo source A few facts about the crocus: there are about 80 species of crocuses. crocuses come in a wide range of colors. Everything is turning white in our apartment lately. Even old glass bottles and vases aren't safe around here anymore. I decided to spice them up by painting them white - from the inside. Here's what I did: What you'll need: old vases, bottles, jars, ... leftover oil paint (if you want to be thrifty) or buy some in your desired color if the oil paint is too thick, some mineral spirit or turpentine to make the paint pour better Carefully pour a small amount of oil paint into the vases/jars/bottles and start swirling until the whole glass is covered in paint. Let the … {click here to continue reading}

{maybe someone will “like” me}

facebook_feat

You may have already noticed the change to my blog - I now have a Facebook "like" button under each post title. Last night I set up Facebook pages for my little {nifty thrifty things} blog. I gave in to what felt like peer pressure (or maybe because I enjoy exploring new things so much.. ;) ). It seems like everyone is having a Facebook page for their blog. I don't know what it's good for yet, except for spending even more time in front of the computer, but maybe it'll bring on some more fun and getting to know even more awesome people. … {click here to continue reading}
